Post-Arrest Guide

You’ve Been Arrested. Now What?

Maybe it was an unpaid ticket that led to an arrest warrant. Maybe you missed a mandatory court hearing, and the police finally caught up with you. Regardless of the reason why you were arrested, you’re now in a tough situation that could threaten your job, your relationships, and your financial wellbeing. That’s where Delta Bail Bonds comes in!

After your arrest, you will be processed at the jail and your information will be entered into the system. This can take several hours. It’s the perfect time to call us at 214-526-4272 to start the bail bond process and speed up your release from jail. Here is a handy guide to the bail bond process so you don’t feel helpless if you or a loved one is put in jail.

Get the Necessary Information

First, you’ll need to gather the following information before you call us:

  • Your (or the defendant’s) booking number
  • Your (or the defendant’s) full legal name and date of birth
  • The name of the holding facility
  • The charges being filed
  • The bail amount

Get Access to a Fax

Next, get access to a fax machine or get a number where you can receive faxes. If you do not have a fax machine, Kinkos or another copy shop will provide you with their phone number where they will receive the fax on your behalf. Someone can go pick it up for you. The average charge is $1 per page, but please call them to verify the cost.

Make Your Bail Bond Payment

The next step is to pay us to secure a bond. We are normally required by law to collect 10% of the set bail amount as a premium. You will either have to pay this amount or arrange financing with us to assemble the funds. Delta Bail Bonds accepts cash, credit cards, and checks, and we also provide financing.

After we receive your 10%, we will guarantee the entire bail amount to the court. We are guaranteeing that the defendant will appear at all their set court dates. You may be required to guarantee that appearance by providing collateral for the entire bond amount. You may use collateral property such as your house, car, boat, or other property of value.

Call a Bail Bond Agent

Call Delta Bail Bonds at 214-526-4272. A friendly bail agent will ask you some basic questions regarding the person in custody. The agent will also ask you questions about the personal history of the person being held, such as where they work, if they’ve had previous arrests, how long they’ve lived at their current residence, etc. We will contact you at the phone number you provide us, so please be sure to be available when we call. We will probably need to contact you several times during the process.

We Secure Your Freedom

Finally, we get you out of jail! Delta Bail Bonds will call the facility where the defendant is being held and begin planning their release. A bail agent will call you as soon as we have devised an appropriate plan and discuss bail. It often takes a few hours, at minimum, to complete the process, so please be patient and trust that we are doing everything we can to expedite your release.
